Meet Dr. Radford

After his salvation at the age of nine, Bob Radford began actively serving the Lord in his church youth group, preaching often in evangelistic outreaches in California and Mexico. Those early experiences planted the seed of a love for world missions that has continued to the present. Bob has traveled with his family to visit and teach on mission fields in 37 countries, including South and Central America, Europe, Japan, China, Papua New Guinea, Myanmar and India. He deems his excursion to the Auca Indian tribe in Ecuador a high point in his aspiration to blend overseas travel with missions.

Following graduation from Los Angeles Baptist Seminary in 1973, Bob began pastoring in Virginia, later served as an assistant pastor under the ministry of Dr. Tim LaHaye in San Diego, California, and then founded and pastored Heritage Baptist Church in Yuma, Arizona. Through his 18 years of pastoring ministries, Bob's strong desire to vitally link the home church with foreign missions led him to establish a dynamic church missions program as well as to personally lead ten mission trips with his youth groups deep into Mexico. Both from the pulpit and among his young people, the foundation of Bob‘s ministry was always expository Bible preaching and teaching through entire books of the Bible, bringing the full Word to bear on the passage under consideration.

Bob earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from Bob Jones University in 1995, writing the dissertation, A Study Guide for Holy Land Travel. While completing his degree he joined the Bible faculty of Maranatha Baptist Bible College (Watertown, Wisconsin) where for 12 years he taught Old and New Testament Survey, Origins and Genesis, Bible Manners and Customs, Hebrew History, and Bible Geography. As a professor of Bible survey to more than 200 freshmen each year, Dr. Radford sensed a solemn responsibility to establish within the students a proper reverence for the Scriptures which would serve as a good foundation for the rest of their Bible college training. Recently he has taught modular classes at Maranatha East (Millersville, MD) and Crown College (Knoxville, TN).

With the background of his experiences in the pastorate and the college classroom, Dr. Radford takes great joy in every opportunity to present expository Bible teaching to local churches—across America and overseas. Bob’s insatiable desire to study and understand the Word and to teach it systematically makes him a passionate teacher and Bible Conference speaker. He is known for his tireless study of the Scriptures and his emphasis on using one’s knowledge of the Old Testament to understand New Testament truths.

Dr. Radford’s field of expertise is applying the understanding of Bible geography along with Bible manners and customs to help one better comprehend the Scriptures. He has completed numerous study tours of Israel and delights to provide others the opportunity to experience first-hand the Land of the Bible. Pastors and church leaders from across the United States, India and Nicaragua who have traveled to the Holy Land on one of Dr. Radford’s tours say that their ministries and personal understanding of the Bible have been deeply impacted.

Dr. Radford has a great burden to bring quality Bible training to national pastors worldwide. He and his wife, Georjean Ann, both share a deep love for the foreign mission field and make several trips annually to teach overseas in churches and Bible colleges and institutes. Pastors and students he has taught have expressed their appreciation of the example he has given them for their own teaching of the Word of God. As Adjunct Professor at South India Baptist Bible College & Seminary, Dr. Radford teaches Genesis, Matthew, Hebrews and Revelation to graduate students, traveling twice annually with his wife to the campus in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
